After thoroughly cleaning the ring mentioned earlier, I brought the affected areas up to 1700 degrees (with my Oxy- Propane torch ) and added in 14K gold to fill in the gallery and cracks!

 A client had recomended me in 2006, and I was commissioned to create this piece with a lot of time and attention spent on hand making each section.  In the summer of 2011 she came to me and told me that it was just made larger by another jeweler, but was irritating her finger. 

It has a lot of sentimental value to her, so, I wanted to do a very close inspection for her!
 I invite you to look closely at the inset.

  What you might be able to see is cracks around the inside surface, perpendicular to the shank, and a broken gallery that desperately needed repair!
Someone had stretched the ring on a tapered steel mandrel to make it bigger, instead of carefully adding gold to the band to increase the circumference of the band to make it bigger!

 This is the brochure that was sent out to independent jewelers across America, inviting them to come and learn all about jewelry making and repair.
